My camera gear essentials

Today's post is about the things that help me do my job as a photographer. I will be talking about all the big & little things I take with me. I will talk about the stuff I take with me every time I go shoot & things I take for specific shoots! I do not claim I know everything or that I am a pro. I am new to this industry & I am just going off my experiences!
Please feel free to add in some helpful tools you use!
Every Photo Shoot I bring in my Bag:
  1. Camera (DUH.)
  2. Extra battery (If you have one.)
  3. Memory cards-If you don't have extra ones, get them! I have 16gb & 8gb
  4. iPhone (touchy subject for most) I bring my iPhone EVERYWHERE. Not only does it take excellent pictures BUT its my calendar when I don't have pen handy.
  5. iPad + Jet-pack (My newest edition thanks to Black Friday!) I talked about the jet-pack in the post before this, click Jet Pack. I take my iPad with me because its small enough to take yet big/easy enough to show your clients your portfolio & it syncs with your iPhone so your calender & things are on both devices!
  6. Baby wipes! Baby wipes are important for those photo shoots that are outside! You want your little client to have fun but still have a clean face!
  7. Lenses
  8. Camera cleaning equipment
  9. Business cards!! Do not leave your client without a business card-I learned that the hard way!
Some of my gear. Not the best picture:( it was taken with my boy friends phone, since both my phone, iPad  & camera are in the photo!

Things I bring for specific shoots:
  1. Tripod- I only bring a tripod for big family photos & people who can stand still (Low light conditions)
  2. Props: Props are considered anything going to be in the shoot. For example I recently did a newborn shoot & I brought my own baby hats & blankets. Before you go to the photo shoot find out what your client has in mind & what they have on hand for props. This will help you think of ideas for the shoot!
  3. Lighting equipment (I rent)
  4. Bean Bag! Bean bag is not only great for newborns but for children or adults, throw a blanket over it and ta-da different back drop!
  5. Garbage bag, for those wet days. I started doing this when I read Steve Berardi article.
This is unfortunately all I can think of off the top of my head! Please feel free to comment below for more helpful ideas for others.
 Thanks,
Charity

First Blog for the new site!!

So this is my first blog post for my new MissChee site! I would like you to know that I really suck with grammar & writing in general but that's why I am a photographer not a writer: )

Any-who black Friday happened & I got an iPad with only WiFi for  $399 + a $75 gift card.. AWESOME! But what I really wanted you to know is I am typing this on my iPad in the car (of course my boyfriend is driving.)
iPad2 with outter box on it!

Now remember what I said above, I only have the iPad with WiFi no cellular data.. Your probably thinking how in the heck is she on her ipad2 if she doesn't have cellular service...
Well, I have Verizon so I went in to Verizon store & got this square boxy thing called a Jet Pack As long as I take the Jet Pack with me I have Internet. The bonus you can have up to 10 devises on it  & I no longer have any other Internet besides this, what a deal!
Not the greatest picture but here is then Jet Pack!
I wanted you to know because in a couple of days I am doing a post on things you should have as a photographer in your camera bag!
Stay tuned!
  Cheers,

Thanksgiving photo shoot with my youngest sister- Time is precious

So over the Thanksgiving holiday while everyone was full from our 3pm turkey dinner & napping I took my 8 year old sister out in about my moms twenty acre property.
Don't you just love silhouette's!

My dads a mechanic so of course my moms backyard is filled with old trucks & what not. One of my favorites is the old Willy's Wagon.
Athena in my mom's old Willy's wagon! She's so cute!

Family time is so important! I was glad I got to spend time with my youngest sister..my mom & I had tons of fun dressing her up & being goofy.
Strike a pose for me Athena!
So what I learned this Thanksgiving is kids grow fast time is precious & shouldn't be wasted napping.
Go outside dress your sister or relative up & have some fun!
Xoxo
